Sonrise Christian School uses the Interact Curriculum framework which views the New Zealand State Curriculum through a Christian lens. ‘Excellence’ is one of the key school values and teachers always encourage high standards of work along with consistent expectations.

The National Standards are used to assess Writing, Reading and Numeracy and teachers are regularly updated on any new requirements in their use. Science, Social Science and Technology are also an important part of the academic year. In years 9 and 10 subjects such as Economics and Accounting are supported by Correspondence School courses.

The school also uses a variety of innovative tools such as Thinking Maps, Habits of Mind and Digital Learning to assist and motivate students to reach their full potential in all academic areas.

The school is proud of its academic record and many students have gone on to receive prizes and scholarships in their further studies.
